Messianic Passover Teachings and Events-14-16 Aviv 5779

Beth Immanuel Messianic Synagogue 828 3RD ST, HUDSON WI SERVICES SATURDAY 10:00 AM Messianic Passover Teachings and Events HOME » NEWS » EVENTS Passover is a beautiful festival of redemption instructed in the Bible, celebrated by the ancient followers of Yeshua, and preserved by the Jewish community for centuries. Passover (in Hebrew, Pesach) not only commemorates the exodus from Egypt, it anticipates and celebrates the ultimate Messianic redemption. For Messianic Jews and Gentiles, Passover is also an important time to commemorate the death, burial, and resurrection of our Master Yeshua, which also occurred at this season. We celebrate Passover by removing all traces of leaven from our homes, by participating in a special meal called a seder, and by singing songs, blessings, and prayers of praise. On this page, you'll find: Messianic Passover events at Beth Immanuel Messianic audio teachings about Passover Articles and Bible studies about Passover from a Messianic Jewish perspective Additional Passover-related resources  a_guide_to_passover_at_beth_immanuel_2019.pdf omer_count_2019_1.pdf Audio Teachings about Passover Passover the Seed of Abraham RECORDED 04/24/2010 Number 17 in the series Galatians How long were the children of Israel in Egypt? Was it 430years? If so, how do we account for 430 years over only three generations? In Galatians 3, Paul employs a rabbinic tradition about the duration of Israel's sojourn in Egypt, interprets the "seed of Abraham" as a reference to Messiah, and compares the Torah to a competing inheritance document. play stop 00:00 00:00 17_passover_and_the_seed_of_abraham.mp3 Tales of the Resurrection RECORDED 04/23/2011 Number 8 in the series Death of the Messiah Stories from the Gospels about Yeshua's resurrection. This time, judgment comes on all the nations, as God redeems his people from the nations. Just as the redemption from Egypt began with plagues, judgments, signs and wonders on the earth, likewise, the final redemption will be prefaced by the same types of omens, calamities, and judgments, which Christians refer to as “the tribulation” and Jews refer to as the “Birth Pains of Messiah,” leading up to the conflict of Armageddon, the great war of Gog and Magog. play stop 00:00 00:00 the_plagues_of_egypt.mp3 Bread of Immortality RECORDED 03/28/2015 It's common in the Messianic Jewish movement to state that the leaven which must be cast out at Passover symbolizes sin, but a closer look at the New Testament indicates a different symbolism at work. This teaching considers the spiritual significance of chametz (leaven) and matzah (unleavened bread) in connection with the festival of Passover.  play stop 00:00 00:00 bread_of_immortaliy.mp3 Seder in Jerusalem RECORDED 03/24/2012 Number 3 in the series Death of the Messiah The story of the Last Supper compared with the traditional elements of the Seder meal as reported in the Mishnah help us recreate the story of Yeshua's last meal with his disciples before he suffered. Just as Psalm 22 prophetically foreshdaowed his crucifixion, opening with the words, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me," likewise Psalm 21 pertains to his ressurection. This short teaching from Beth Immanuel's 2014 Resurrection Service offers insights into the significance of our Master's resurrection.   play stop 00:00 00:00 he_asked_for_life.mp3 Easter or Passover? RECORDED 03/29/2016 Number 4 in the series Death of the Messiah When did the disciples of Yeshua begin celebrating the festival of Easter? What's wrong with Easter? Even more, it is a commandment of the Master to do this in remembrance of Him! You are preparing to keep one of the Master’s most sacred instructions to his disciples! God will bless you as you keep his Torah and His son’s command. May the Lord bless your home. Learn more Leaven and Passover Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. On the first day you shall remove leaven out of your houses, for if anyone eats what is leavened, from the first day until the seventh day, that person shall be cut off from Israel. (Exodus 12:15) Learn more Last Supper or Last Seder? Was Jesus’ Last Supper a Passover Seder? On what day did Yeshua die, and did he celebrate a Passover Seder with his disciples or not? Yeshua died on a Friday, but what day of the month was it? And by “day of the month,” I mean, on what day of the biblical calendar did He die? Was it the thirteenth day of Nissan, the fourteenth day of Nissan, or the fifteenth day of Nissan? Learn more A Pass-Ova Mystery The primary function of the Passover Seder is to tell the story of the exodus to one’s children. The booklet that we read during the seder is called the Haggadah, which means “telling.” As it says, “You shall tell your son on that day, ‘It is because of what the LORD did for me when I came out of Egypt’” (Exodus 13:8). Learn more Gentiles and Passover Is it permissible for a Gentile to eat a Passover Seder meal? Learn more The Sign of Jonah Does Matthew 12:40 imply that Jesus did not die on a Friday? On what day of the week did Jesus die? Learn more Last Seder: A Jewish Reading of the Last Supper On the night before he suffered, Jesus ate a “last supper” with his disciples. At that meal, he gave them bread and wine and told them to take the bread and wine in remembrance of him. Thanks to increasing levels of education in the Jewish roots of Christianity, most Christians today realize that the Last Supper of Jesus and his disciples was a traditional Jewish Passover Seder meal, but most Christians probably still do not realize exactly how the Last Supper conforms to a traditional seder meal. Learn more Counting the Omer The command to bring the first sheaf of the harvest to the Temple is of great significance to the disciples of Yeshua. It is an obscure appointment on the Biblical calendar, sometimes called the First Fruits of the Barley Harvest, but better known simply by its Biblical name, “The Omer.” The Omer is a minor festival with major Messianic implications. Learn more Passover: Prelude on the Mountain More than three years had passed since Yeshua of Nazareth, the rabbi from Galilee, began to travel and teach about the imminent appearance of the Kingdom of Heaven. His message of repentance, faith in him, and charity to the downtrodden did not sit well with the political and religious figures he encountered. The Sadducees feared his messianic proclamations would gain strength and cause Rome to marshall its soldiers and place Judaea under even stricter control than the status quo.
