Parasha and Ki Tavo

From Israel
Shabbat Shalom Ana Betty!

Welcome to Ki Tavo (When You Enter), this week’s Parasha (Torah Portion).

This Torah portion will be read in synagogues around the world during the Shabbat (Saturday) morning service.  Please read along with us and discover how precious you are to Adonai.

Ki Tavo (When You Enter)
Devarim/Deuteronomy 26:1–29:9 (8); Yeshiyahu/Isaiah 60:1–22; Kefa Alef/1 Peter 2:1–25

“When you have entered [ki tavo] the land Adonai  your Elohim is giving you as an inheritance ...  take some of the firstfruits of all that you produce from the soil of the land Adonai your Elohim  is giving you and put them in a basket.  Then go to the place Adonai  your Elohim  will choose as a dwelling for His name.”  (Deuteronomy 26:1–2)

Last week, in Parasha Ki Tetze, Elohim  gave to the Israelites 74 of the 613 commandments found in the Torah — far more than any other Torah portion.

These laws mostly seem to be concerned with protecting the weaker members of society.  They include laws concerning the beautiful captive, paying workers in a timely fashion, and leaving a portion of the harvest in the field for the widow, the fatherless, and the stranger.

This week, in Parasha Ki Tavo (When You Enter), Elohim  instructs Israel to bring the first-ripened fruits (bikkurim) to the central sanctuary once the Israelites have finally entered the Land He promised to them.

It must have been a relief for the children of Israel to hear that their prolonged, 40-year journey through the wilderness would finally be coming to an end.  They were about to cross over into the Promised Land.

In fact, the word in Hebrew for a Hebrew, Ivri, comes from the root I-V-R, which means to cross over.  In a spiritual sense, anyone who has crossed over into the Kingdom of Elohim  is an Ivri.

For that reason, perhaps, Paul said that being a Jew is a matter of having a circumcised heart more than circumcised flesh.  He wasn’t by any means negating circumcision; he was emphasizing that to cross over into the Kingdom of Elohi, there must be an inward change.

Those who worship Elohim , worship Him in Spirit and in truth.

“But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter; and his praise is not from men, but from Elohim .”  (Romans 2:29)

The wilderness experience was so challenging and defining that future rabbinic texts consider any physical or spiritual desert as an enemy to be overcome.  Our challenge is to walk through the times of wilderness in our lives and be transformed so that we can enter the Promised Land.

Ki Tavo promises that obedience to Elohim  will be rewarded.  These rewards include Divine protection, prosperity, and blessings on families and future generations.

Disobedience and rebellion against Elohim , however, result in punishment; the Word of Elohim  lists 98 chilling admonitions that take up half of this Parasha.

These include diseases, plagues, poverty, famine, slavery, and defeat by enemies.

For this reason, Parasha Ki Tavo has been called “the warning chapter,” and the Torah reader, who traditionally chants the Torah portion according to a sing-song pattern, rushes through the recital of dreaded curses in a hushed, fearful tone.

We need not look far to see that the Jewish People have been blessed by the Almighty Elohim  as He promised; but they have also done more than their fair share of suffering over the centuries due to the curses of the law that come into play because of sin (Deuteronomy 28:15–68).

Teviah, the father in the movie Fiddler on the Roof, expressed this sentiment so humorously after his horse became lame just before the Sabbath: “Elohim , I know that we are Your chosen people, but … couldn’t You choose someone else for a change?”

There are some who follow Yeshua HaMashiach , but believe that it is our lot in life to suffer from these curses along with the rest of the world; however, the Word of Elohim  tells us differently.

As covenant children of Elohim , we are to enjoy His blessings on our lives if we are walking in obedience to His commandments.

"But Messiah has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law.  When He was hung on the tree, He took upon Himself the curse for our wrongdoing."  (Galatians 3:13)

Blessings Come from Being a Blessing

One of the first acts of obedience that Adonai  asks of His people is to remove the firstfruits of our increase, our tithe, the sacred portion — and to give it to those who serve Adonai , as well as to the poor.

“Then say to Adonai  your Elohim : ‘I have removed from My house the sacred portion and have given it to the Levite, the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow, according to all You commanded.’”  (Deuteronomy 26:13)

If we are not obeying this command, then we have little Biblical basis on which to expect Elohim ’s blessings on our finances.

Elohim  promises that if we obey Him in giving our tithe, He will rebuke the devourer for our sakes and bless our finances.

"'Then I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruits of the ground; nor will your vine in the field cast its grapes,' says Adonai  of hosts.”  (Malachi 3:11)

"Honor Adonai with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your
produce."  (Proverbs 3:9)

But the reverse holds true as well:  if we fail to give to Elohim the “hallowed portion” of our income, then we are breaking covenant by “robbing Elohim .”

When we fail to tithe, we come under a curse and give the devourer free rein to work havoc and destroy our finances.

While Yeshua has removed from us the curse of the law, He has not removed from us the obligation to follow His example by living a holy life.  When we understand that we are walking in sin in some area, we are to repent and return to Him.

By giving our tithe — the holy (kadosh) portion of our income — removing it from our possession, we return to Eloim in so many ways and He returns to us.

“‘Return to Me, and I will return to you,’ says Adonai  Almighty.  But you ask, ‘How are we to return?’  Will a mere mortal rob Elohim ?  Yet you rob me.  But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’  In tithes and offerings.  You are under a curse—your whole nation—because you are robbing Me.”  (Malachi 3:7–9)

A homeless man in Israel

In Judaism, the giving of tzedakah (charity) is considered such an important mitzvah (commandment) that if someone does not fulfill this law, their lineage actually becomes suspect.

Giving to the poor is an obligation in Judaism, a duty that cannot be forsaken even by those who themselves are in need.  Some sages have said that tzedakah is the highest of all commandments, equal to all of them combined, and that a person who does not perform tzedakah is equivalent to an idol worshiper.

This principle is affirmed also in the Brit Chadashah (New Covenant), which emphasizes that if we don’t give when we see a brother in material need, it is doubtful that the love of Elohim  truly dwells within us.

“If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of Elohim  be in him?”  (1 John 3:17)

Of course, Adonai rewards compassion and generosity.  He promises that when we give to the poor and needy, the widows and orphans, He will pay us back for what we have given.

“Whoever is generous to the poor lends to Adonai, and He will repay him for his deed.”  (Proverbs 19:17)

A Treasured Possession

“And Adonai  has declared this day that you are His people, His treasured possession as He promised, and that you are to keep all His commands.  He has declared that He will set you in praise, fame and honor high above all the nations He has made and that you will be a people holy to Adonai  your Elohim , as He promised.”  (Deuteronomy 26:18–19)
Adonai  promises Israel in this Parasha that if they keep His commandments, they will be "His treasured possession.”  This promise is also found in Exodus:

“Now if you obey Me fully and keep My covenant, then out of all nations you will be My treasured possession.  Although the whole earth is mine, you will be for Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation [mamlechet cohanim v’goee kadosh].”  (Exodus 19:5–6)

And although they have experienced many curses over the generations, in the Haftarah (prophetic portion), the prophet Isaiah tells Israel that Elohim  in His favor and mercy will one day exalt them even in the midst of much persecution and hatred against them:

“Whereas you have been forsaken and hated, with no one passing through, I will make you majestic forever, a joy from age to age.”  (Isaiah 60:15)

In the Brit Chadashah, all followers of Yeshua are called
Elohim’s special people.  Because of our covenant with the Almighty Elohim  through the blood of Yeshua, both Jew and Gentile together can know that they are Elohim ’s most treasured possession.

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for Elohim ’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”  (1 Peter 2:9)

In Hebrew, the word for special treasure is segulah (סגולה).  The color purple in Hebrew is sagol (סגול), a word that comes from the same root letters.  Why?  Purple is the color of royalty!

As Adonai’s segulah, we are clothed in sagol — the color of royalty.

We are children of the King and He is our Father.  He values and treasures us.  There is no need to search for external or superficial qualifications.  This is simply our identity in the Messiah!

.We might look at ourselves and say, I don’t look much like a treasure; I’m too short or too tall, too fat or too thin, not pretty or smart enough to be a treasure.

We might check in with our emotions and say, I don’t feel that I qualify to be called a treasure of Elohim ; I have so many faults and weaknesses — I need to work on keeping my temper; I’m not yet disciplined enough; I don’t witness enough — whatever we perceive to be our weakness.

But as the apostle Paul says, we are to put no confidence in the attributes of our flesh (Philippians 3:3).  Certainly, if anyone could have qualified as a treasure by the certificates on his wall and trophies on his desk, it would have been the apostle Paul, who described himself in this way:

“… circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee;  as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for righteousness based on the law, faultless.”  (Philippians 3:5–6)

He considered himself without fault in the flesh and in his keeping of the Torah; yet he put no value on all of these external qualifications.  Instead, he put his trust in the person of the Messiah:

“But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Messiah.  What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Messiah Yeshua Adonai (my Adon ), for whose sake I have lost all things …

“I consider them garbage, that I may gain Messiah and be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Messiah — the righteousness that comes from Elohim on the basis of faith.”  (Philippians 3:7–9)

Although Paul continued to keep the law, he understood that his excellent performance was not to be compared to the righteousness that comes from Elohim on the basis of faith.

And while our own performance may not be as righteous as Paul’s, we must accept by faith that if we are empowered to walk in Adonai's ways by His Spirit and are obedient, then we are in truth His special treasure.

Despite our faults, weaknesses and imperfections, Adonai  loves and values us, and we can say, “I am royalty — a child of the King of Kings — the segulah of Adonai  — a precious treasure!”

He values us because we are His covenant children and are each created in His image and likeness.  A spark of His divine Shekhinah glory is within us.

If we have a $100 bill and it accidentally drops on the ground, getting soiled, stepped on, crumpled, and bent — is it worth any less than $100?  No, it retains its value.

So too it is with us.  Many of us, however, do not understand our value.

Some of us have not always been treated like a treasure.  Perhaps parents, schoolmates, spouses, or fellow Believers
have not treated us with honor and respect.  We may have even been abused or mistreated terribly by people, as if we are someone inconsequential.

But Elohim  does not see us this way.  Even if we have been broken; even if our heart has been torn in two or our whole life shattered, we are still a beautiful treasure to Adonai  — “a crown of beauty and a royal diadem in the hand of our Elohim .”  (Isaiah 62:3)

How do we care for treasures?  We put them in special places and guard them jealously, keeping them in a safe, secure place.  Can we even fathom the grief and wrath that Elohim  feels when someone causes one of His segulah to suffer?

We need to leave these injustices and hurts in the hands of Adonai  who says He will vindicate us.  Our only choice is to forgive those who have hurt and mistreated us.

.Sometimes, when we don't see ourselves as valuable and worthy of respect, we send signals to others that we are valueless and worthless.  The result is often that they will treat us as such.

Or our perception of how others treat us can prevent us from moving forward in Elohim's promises.  For instance, when the Israelites saw themselves as grasshoppers, they thought that the giants in Canaan did as well!

But when we begin to value and respect ourselves in a balanced and Godly manner, we will find more and more that the people in our lives properly value and esteem us as well.

Part of our healing and recovery is a transformation in the way we see ourselves — knowing our identity in the Messiah as righteous, whole, precious, valuable.  We receive these precious attributes only through His Divine Covenant.

Let us enter into everything that Elohim has for us — our freedom from condemnation, freedom from the curses, joy unspeakable, and peace that passes all understanding.

All these and more have been given to us through the New Covenant, bought with the precious blood of the sinless Lamb of Elohim , Yeshua HaMashiach (!

Men and Lusts

Why DO MEN LUST FoR WOMEN? Because MOTHER of the UNIVERSE accidentally created The GOD OF DARKNESS who is Female. So Satan's FATHER is a FEMALE Hermaphrodite like her Angels Satan & Baphomet. God of Darkness Yaldabaoth/Achamoth & her female hermaphrodite Angels of Darkness including Satan made Earth & ADAM to Make MEN THEIR SLAVES😎 but FOREFATHER was NOT Going to Allow ALL MEN to Become SLAVES to the DARKNESS so FOREFATHER placed the Tree of LIFE & KNOWLEDGE in the Garden & Mother of the Universe and Her Angel Daughter ZOE created Eve and also Zoe Entered the Serpent in the Tree of Knowledge & got Eve and Adam to Eat from the TREE.

This is why  the CHOSEN IMMortal MEN won't allow the  lust for women to interfere with their SEARCH for MORE & MORE LIGHT OF THE FOREFATHER & YAH. We Seek the LIGHT NOT THE DARKNESS ONCE WE AWAKEN & WE SHARE THE LIGHT WHICH is Love, Kindness, Compassion & FORGIVENESS To ALL while Begging Forefather for Forgiveness Daily in prayer ending your Prayers in the Name of YAH Prince of the LIGHT of the UNIVERSE.

This info comes from the Bible and the Nag Hammadi when used together to understand the 12 Heavens of the Light where YAH the Messiah comes from and the 6 Heavens of Chaos where Satan comes from. The Light and the Darkness in The BIBLE

666 & The Man

* THE WISDOM BEYOND KNOWING THE BEAST, 'THE MAN-THE 666' *

>REV 13:18

Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of The Beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666.

There are 26 letters in the English alphabet from A to Z.
Let each letter corresponds to each number like:
A=1, C=3, Z=26 and so on.

JESUS letters must be multiplied by 9 (The Highest number which is only for The True Creator YHUH/YHWH) and the result is 666. This means that JESUS is a counterfeit of The Most High YHUH/YHWH.

JESUS = 666 IS "THE MAN - THE BEAST."

JESUS is the fiery Dragon, that Serpent of old, called The Devil and Satan who was thrown down together with his angels to the earth and that Serpent of old deceives the whole world (REV 3,4,9).

Lets go further to compute The 666 who is JESUS:

GOSPEL = 666
CHRISTOS = 666
CROSS = 666

MUHAMMAD=666
LUCIFER = 666

LUCIFER who is also MUHAMMAD and JESUS is also SATAN is the one who weakened the nations (ISA 14:12) and deceives the whole world, and yes LUCIFER is also of the 7 Kingdoms (1,Egypt, 2.Assyria, 3.Babylon, 4.Persia, 5.Greece, 6.Roman Empire, 7.RCC and 8.Revived Papacy of Rome with 10 nations in REV17:16) and LUCIFER who is JESUS is also of the 8th Kingdom (REV 17:10,11).

AT PRESENT, THE GOD (ELOHIM) OF THIS WORLD, "LUCIFER-JESUS-THE 666", HAS BLINDED THE MINDS OF THE UNBELIEVING...

>2 COR 4:3-5

3 But even if our GOSPEL (The 666 of JESUS) is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing (but for now the veiled GOSPEL is unveiled to you as The 666 that you might see.),

4 whose minds the god (JESUS-LUCIFER-THE 666) of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the GOSPEL (The 666) of the glory of Christ (CHRISTOS-THE 666), who is the image of god (LORD-BAAL, JOVE, JEHOVAH-DESTROYER, ETC) should not shine on them.

5 For we (believers of JESUS) do not preach ourselves, but CHRIST (CHRISTOS-666) JESUS (666) the LORD (BAAL-Babylonian god/elohim), and ourselves your servants for JESUS (LUCIFER-666) sake.

WOULD YOU STILL CONTINUE BELIEVING THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST FOR SEEING THE WISDOM IN NUMBERS?

>2 THES 2:7-10

7 and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the LORD (BAAL) JESUS (LUCIFER-666) is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels (for he is revealed now as the Great Dragon, the Serpent of old, the Devil and Satan),

8 in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God (Who is the Father of JESUS?), and on those who do not obey the GOSPEL (666) of our Lord (BAAL) JESUS (The 666) CHRIST (CHRISTOS-666).

9 These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord (BAAL) and from the glory of his power,

10 when He comes (JESUS-LUCIFER is not coming but he will be imprisoned for 1,000 years), in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed.

Since LUCIFER was revealed as The 666 and also as JESUS (666) with his GOSPEL (666) who was nailed on the CROSS (666) as CHRIST (CHRISTOS-KING-666)...
WOULD YOU NOW STILL BELIEVED HIS BIBLE IN JESUS SALVATION EVEN YOU CHANGED HIS NAME 'JESUS' INTO MANY OTHER NAMES?

I HOPE YOU HAVE READ AND SEEN NOW WHO IS A LIAR WHO DECEIVED THE WHOLE EARTH!

MAY YAHUAH/YAHUWAH GIVE YOU AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE 666 AND ACCEPT THE WISDOM IN THE NUMBERS!

Azazel

The word “Azazel” does not mean “scapegoat”!

This word is a compound of two etymons (root words).  The first word within the compound is “az” and means kid goat.  The second word is “etzel” meaning “to depart”.  The lamed (L) prefix is the preposition “for”.  This word לעזאזל/LeAzazel means “for he goat of departure”.  This goat was lead away to escape; it departed.

Why is this important?

In our modern English, when we hear the word “scapegoat” we envision one who was unjustly judged guilty.  We use the term “scapegoat” being synonymous with one who was treated unfairly.   This is not the case within Leviticus 16!  It is not a “scapegoat” but it is a “goat of escape”.  These two terms have completely different meanings. This errant translation has led many to draw wrong conclusions about these two goats.

Within this story found in Leviticus 16, we have two young/hairy he goats. The lot fell upon both goats! One was slaughtered and the other was led into the wilderness and allowed to escape. One goat belonged to YHVH and paid the death penalty.  The other goat would not bear the death penalty and was allowed to escape into the wilderness…or at least for a time!

More tomorrow… along with a Dead Sea Scroll fragment written in Paleo Hebrew. The fragment contains most of the text from Leviticus 16:1-6

ISRAEL & PIF

Israel Ingin Membentuk Lingkar Pasifik-Israel dalam Pertemuan PIF Mendatang

0 Israel, Pacific, PIF 8/29/2018 06:41:00 pm

The twelve spies entered the land of Israel and spent a total of forty days wandering around the land.

Unfortunately ten of the twelve spies became more and more corrupt during their stay in Israel.

They became corrupt as they knew that if they brought back a favourable report, it would result in an immediate entry into the land of Israel, they knew that after Eldad and Maidad prophesized that Moshe would die and Joshua would lead them in to the land of Israel, when the time was to come, that they would potentially lose their jobs as the leaders.

In the book of Kings, we learned how Yeravim Ben Navot became corrupt and instituted a Golden Calf as he became the head of the Ten tribes, in turn stopping the members of his kingdom to go to the Temple (Melachim I 12:25-33).

The Parshah kemudian menghubungkan mitzvah dari 'Tzitzit.' Kata 'Tzitzit' berarti 'fringes.'

Amen

Diet Law by Melanie Frank

Diet law - what does the scriptures saying?

1. Veganism/Vegetarism:

And Elohim said, “See, I have given you every plant that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed, to you it is for food. And to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the heavens, and to every creeping creature on the earth, in which there is a living being, every green plant is for food.” And it came to be so.
Berĕshith (Genesis) 1:29‭-‬30 TS2009
https://bible.com/bible/316/gen.1.29-30.TS2009

2. 1st law to don't eat the fruit of knowledge of good and evil and the consequences when we break it:

And יהוה Elohim commanded the man, saying, “Eat of every tree of the garden, but do not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for in the day that you eat of it you shall certainly die.”
Berĕshith (Genesis) 2:16‭-‬17 TS2009
https://bible.com/bible/316/gen.2.16-17.TS2009

2. Slain of the first animal - first sacrificed animal:

And יהוה Elohim made coats of skin for the man and his wife and dressed them.
Berĕshith (Genesis) 3:21 TS2009
https://bible.com/bible/316/gen.3.21.TS2009

3. Noach - allowed to eat animals BUT forbid of eating blood:

“And the fear of you and the dread of you is on every beast of the earth, on every bird of the heavens, on all that creeps on the ground, and on all the fish of the sea – into your hand they have been given. “Every creeping creature that lives is food for you. I have given you all, as I gave the green plants. “But do not eat flesh with its life, its blood.
Berĕshith (Genesis) 9:2‭-‬4 TS2009
https://bible.com/bible/316/gen.9.2-4.TS2009

4. Law for the appointed feasts of YAH:

Speak to all the congregation of Yisra’ĕl, saying, ‘On the tenth day of this new moon each one of them is to take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household. ‘And if the household is too small for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next to his house take it according to the number of the beings, according to each man’s need you make your count for the lamb. ‘Let the lamb be a perfect one, a year old male. Take it from the sheep or from the goats. ‘And you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same new moon . Then all the assembly of the congregation of Yisra’ĕl shall slay it between the evenings. ‘And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it. ‘And they shall eat the flesh on that night, roasted in fire – with unleavened bread and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. ‘Do not eat it raw, nor boiled at all with water, but roasted in fire, its head with its legs and its inward parts. ‘And do not leave of it until morning, and what remains of it until morning you are to burn with fire. ‘And this is how you eat it: your loins girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. And you shall eat it in haste. It is the Pĕsaḥ of יהוה. ‘And I shall pass through the land of Mitsrayim on that night, and shall strike all the first-born in the land of Mitsrayim, both man and beast. And on all the mighty ones of Mitsrayim I shall execute judgment. I am יהוה. ‘And the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I shall pass over you, and let the plague not come on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Mitsrayim. ‘And this day shall become to you a remembrance. And you shall celebrate it as a festival to יהוה throughout your generations – celebrate it as a festival, an everlasting law. ‘Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. Indeed on the first day you cause leaven to cease from your houses. For whoever eats leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that being shall be cut off from Yisra’ĕl. ‘And on the first day is a set-apart gathering, and on the seventh day you have a set-apart gathering. No work at all is done on them, only that which is eaten by every being, that alone is prepared by you. ‘And you shall guard the Festival of Matzot, for on this same day I brought your divisions out of the land of Mitsrayim. And you shall guard this day throughout your generations, an everlasting law. ‘In the first month , on the fourteenth day of the new moon , in the evening, you shall eat unleavened bread until the twenty-first day of the new moon in the evening. ‘For seven days no leaven is to be found in your houses, for if anyone eats what is leavened, that same being shall be cut off from the congregation of Yisra’ĕl, whether sojourner or native of the land. ‘Do not eat that which is leavened – in all your dwellings you are to eat unleavened bread.’ ” And all the children of Yisra’ĕl did as יהוה commanded Mosheh and Aharon, so they did.
Shemoth (Exodus) 12:3‭-‬20‭, ‬50 TS2009
https://bible.com/bible/316/exo.12.3-50.TS2009

5. Clean and unclean animals:

And יהוה spoke to Mosheh and to Aharon, saying to them, “Speak to the children of Yisra’ĕl, saying, ‘These are the living creatures which you do eat among all the beasts that are on the earth: ‘Whatever has a split hoof completely divided, chewing the cud, among the beasts, that you do eat. ‘Only, these you do not eat among those that chew the cud or those that have a split hoof: the camel, because it chews the cud but does not have a split hoof, it is unclean to you; and the rabbit, because it chews the cud but does not have a split hoof, it is unclean to you; and the hare, because it chews the cud but does not have a split hoof, it is unclean to you; and the pig, though it has a split hoof, completely divided, yet does not chew the cud, it is unclean to you. ‘Their flesh you do not eat, and their carcasses you do not touch. They are unclean to you. ‘These you do eat of all that are in the waters: any one that has fins and scales in the waters, in the seas or in the rivers, that you do eat. ‘But all that have not fins and scales in the seas and in the rivers, all that move in the waters or any living being which is in the waters, they are an abomination to you. ‘They are an abomination to you – of their flesh you do not eat, and their carcasses you abominate. ‘All that have not fins or scales in the waters are an abomination to you. ‘And these you do abominate among the birds, they are not eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the vulture, and the black vulture, and the hawk, and the falcon after its kind, every raven after its kind, and the ostrich, and the nighthawk, and the seagull, and the hawk after its kind, and the little owl, and the fisher owl, and the great owl, and the white owl, and the pelican, and the carrion vulture, and the stork, the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe, and the bat. ‘All flying insects that creep on all fours is an abomination to you. ‘Only, these you do eat of every flying insect that creeps on all fours: those which have jointed legs above their feet with which to leap on the earth. ‘These of them you do eat: the arbeh- locust after its kind, and the solam- locust after its kind, and the ḥargol- locust after its kind, and the ḥagaḇ- locust after its kind. ‘But all other flying insects which have four feet are an abomination to you. ‘And by these you are made unclean, anyone touching the carcass of any of them is unclean until evening, and anyone picking up part of the carcass of any of them has to wash his garments, and shall be unclean until evening. ‘Every beast that has a split hoof not completely divided, or does not chew the cud, is unclean to you. Anyone who touches their carcass is unclean. ‘And whatever goes on its paws, among all the creatures that go on all fours, those are unclean to you. Anyone who touches their carcass is unclean until evening, and he who picks up their carcass has to wash his garments, and shall be unclean until evening. They are unclean to you. ‘And these are unclean to you among the creeping creatures that creep on the earth: the mole, and the mouse, and the tortoise after its kind, and the gecko, and the land crocodile, and the sand reptile, and the sand lizard, and the chameleon. ‘These are unclean to you among all that creep. Anyone who touches them when they are dead becomes unclean until evening. ‘And whatever any of them in its dead state falls upon, becomes unclean, whether it is any wooden object or garment or skin or sack, any object in which work is done, it is put in water. And it shall be unclean until evening, then it shall be clean. ‘Any earthen vessel into which any of them falls, whatever is in it becomes unclean, and you break it. ‘Any of the food which might be eaten, on which water comes, becomes unclean, and any drink which might be drunk from it becomes unclean. ‘And on whatever any of their carcass falls becomes unclean – an oven or cooking range – it is broken down. They are unclean, and are unclean to you. ‘But a fountain or a well, a collection of water, is clean, but whatever touches their carcass is unclean. ‘And when any of their carcass falls on any planting seed which is to be sown, it is clean. ‘But when any water is put on the seed and any part of any such carcass falls on it, it is unclean to you. ‘And when any of the beasts which are yours for food dies, he who touches its carcass becomes unclean until evening. ‘And he who eats of its carcass has to wash his garments, and shall be unclean until evening. And he who picks up its carcass has to wash his garments, and shall be unclean until evening. ‘And every swarming creature – the one that swarms on the earth is an abomination, it is not eaten. ‘Whatever crawls on its stomach, and whatever goes on all fours, and whatever has many feet among all swarming creatures – the ones swarming on the earth, these you do not eat, for they are an abomination. ‘Do not make yourselves abominable with any swarming creature – the one swarming, and do not make yourselves unclean with them, lest you be defiled by them. ‘For I am יהוה your Elohim, and you shall set yourselves apart. And you shall be set-apart, for I am set-apart. And do not defile yourselves with any swarming creature – the one creeping on the earth. ‘For I am יהוה who is bringing you up out of the land of Mitsrayim, to be your Elohim.
