The Name Of God

The name of God in the Jewish Scriptures is an enigmatic mystery.
People often pronounce the four Hebrew letters (YHWH) as “Yahweh” or “Jehovah”, but the truth is that we don’t really know how to say it. In most Bibles that word is translated as “the LORD”, and similarly when reading it in Hebrew, we always say “Adonai” instead, which means Lord. We don’t even try to pronounce it. However, close examination of those four letters is an enlightening exercise which relates wonderfully to the Messiah. In Genesis 1, the Hebrew word for God is “Elohim”, which is the general term for god or gods and is also, rather interestingly, a plural word. In Genesis 1 Elohim is referred to as “him” (male singular) but speaks in plural (“Let us make man in our image”). However, in Genesis 2, the four-lettered name of God, YHWH, first appears, and God is mostly referred to by this unique name from there on in. God’s name is holy Jewish people, by and large, prefer to avoid using any name of God, often writing the word God like this: “G-d”, so that it is not written in its entirety. Many call God “haShem”, which means “the Name”, or other similar designations. “Baruch haShem!” (which means “Blessed be the Name!” or “Blessed be the Lord!”) is a phrase one hears multiple times a day in Israel. So precious are those four letters that we even change the dates that contain two of those four holy letters in a row – the 15th and 16th of every month deviate from the normal pattern in order to respect the four-lettered name of God. Similarly, there is a tradition to avoid writing down the name of God to avoid the sacrilege of it ever being thrown away, erased or destroyed. His name is holy. “Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is His Name?’ What should I say to them?” “God answered Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” Then He said, “You are to say to the sons of Israel, ‘I AM’ has sent me to you.” God also said to Moses: “You are to say to the sons of Israel, Adonai (YHWH) the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My Name forever, and the Name by which I should be remembered from generation to generation.” (Exodus 3:13-15) I AM WHO I AM? As much as that might have been bewildering to Moses, God insists that he cannot be categorized – he just IS. God laughs at us all arguing about whether he exists or not – he is the very definition of existence! Opening the treasure box of Hebrew grammar The interesting thing with verbs in the Biblical Hebrew is that they are often written in what looks like future tense to us today, but are rendered as past tense. And the other way around! Prophecy is often expressed in what looks like the past tense to modern Hebrew speakers, yet it is talking about things to come. Time and tense are not straightforward, which is appropriate because the author of the biblical text lives outside time. He can give prophecy about future events as if they had already happened, and he can describe past events in narration that actually point to future events to come – as in the stories of Joseph and the Exodus for example. I’ll tell you something else funny about Hebrew – the verb “to be” only exists in past and future, but not in the present tense. In Hebrew, we don’t say “I am hungry”, we just say “I hungry”. We don’t say “that table is big”, we say “that table big”. We can say “I was hungry”, or “I will be hungry”, but not “I am hungry”. There is no “is” or “am” in Hebrew. Why? Perhaps because in the Hebrew language, the language of the Bible, the present tense of the verb “to be” is reserved for use by God alone. Only God can say “I AM”. And perhaps that helps us understand some of the mystery of the Tetragrammaton, YHWH. When we look at the original Hebrew text which in English says, “I AM WHO I AM”, it looks (to the modern Hebrew reader) as if it’s in the future tense: “I will be that which I will be” (אֶהְיֶה אֲשֶׁר אֶהְיֶה). And yet it’s translated into present tense! Getting confused? The interplay between the tenses of the verb to be is illustrative of the fact that our God is, was, and always will be. Moreover, the very letters of the four-letter name of God (יהוה) contain the Hebrew for he was, he is, and he will be! This is a fact that has, unsurprisingly, been noted by rabbis of the past. Rabbinic interpretation It’s interesting to see how the phrase, “I am who I am” (אֶהְיֶה אֲשֶׁר אֶהְיֶה), was also translated into present tense in the “Targum Yonatan” text, an early rabbinic translation of the Bible into Aramaic by Jonathan ben Uzziel, a pupil of Hillel and doctor of the Law in Jerusalem during the time of King Herod.[1] He translated it into Aramaic as “אֲנָא הוּא”, which in modern Hebrew (Ani Hu – אני הוא) literally means “I He”. This is as close as you can get in Hebrew to “I AM” – the first person, present tense of the verb to be. “God answered Moses, “I AM who I AM.” Then He said, “You are to say to the sons of Israel, ‘I AM’ has sent me to you.” In rabbinic interpretation, it makes sense that the three times the word appears reflects the three tenses: past, present, and future. He was He is He forever shall be In Exodus Rabba, Rabbi Isaac taught: “God said to Moses: ‘Tell them that I am now what I always was and always will be’; for this reason is the word ehyeh written three times” [2] I AM – Three times? It is interesting that just as in the Shema, the name of the Lord features three times. Perhaps it’s not only about past, present and future, but perhaps it also points to the threefold nature of God: The Father The Son – God incarnate, the Messiah The Holy Spirit Impossible? But the evidence is in the Jewish Scriptures themselves. At one point YHWH turns up in person to visit Abraham, a fact that causes great consternation among those who are adamant that God cannot become flesh. Well He did, right there in Genesis 18. It says so repeatedly. Also, Jeremiah 23:6 says that YHWH will be the name of the Messiah. You know what else? The phrase used in Targum Yonatan as the best way to help Jewish people relate to the unusual turn of phrase God declared from the burning bush (“Ani Hu” / “I He”) crops up later in the New Testament. Quite a lot. You know who else uses that term, “Ani Hu” (I AM)? In John 4, Jesus meets a Samaritan woman, and they had a conversation about God, truth, and worship. She said to Yeshua, not knowing who he really was, “I know that Messiah is coming (He who is called the Anointed One.) When He comes, He will explain everything to us.” Yeshua’s response? “I, the One speaking to you, “ani Hu” (I AM).” In chapter 8, Yeshua had got caught up in a controversy with the religious leaders. Frustrated and confused, they demanded to know, “Who are you?” Yeshua replied, “What have I been telling you from the beginning?” …“Abraham and the prophets died. Yet You say, ‘If anyone keeps My word, he will never taste death.’ You are not greater than our father Abraham who died, are You? The prophets also died! 3 ORANG KRISTEN KRISTEN TENTANG YAHSHUA YANG SALAH.
(Pesan dengan segala hormat kepada mereka)
Pertama - Berikut adalah beberapa kesalahan umum yang dilakukan oleh Kekristenan: Yahshua (Yesusnya) adalah seorang Kristen dan bukan seorang Yahudi.
2 - Ia menghadiri gereja pada hari Minggu, bukan Shabbat (Sabat) ke Sinagoga.
3ª- Dia memulai agama baru yang disebut Kekristenan dan datang untuk mengakhiri Hukum (Taurat) dan untuk menetapkan cara keselamatan yang baru.
Semua pernyataan ini salah, tetapi sangat penting bagi setiap orang Kristen dan diajarkan di semua gereja.Kebanyakan orang Kristen memiliki agama tentang "Yesus" mereka tetapi tidak mempraktekkan agama Yahshua, Mashiach / Ibrani Mesias.
Yahshua tidak pernah pergi ke gereja dan tidak pernah merayakan Natal atau Pekan Suci. Dia terus hari Sabat Sabat dan tidak Sabtu Yudeo-Yunani-Romawi sebagai hari Sabtu tidak ada
pada waktu itu di kalender Anda, Pesta YHVH, makan makanan halal, berdoa di kuil dan rumah-rumah ibadat.
Kita dapat melihat bahwa iman dan praktik-Nya adalah orang Yahudi sampai ke intinya.
Tetapi kebanyakan orang Kristen tidak dapat memahami hal ini, dan mereka tidak pernah repot-repot bertanya pada diri mereka sendiri, bagaimana Yahshua melihat Taurat? Mereka memiliki pendapat yang menyesatkan tentang Taurat, mereka melihatnya sebagai karya yang berkaitan dengan orang-orang Farisi dan legalistik, sebagai ikatan, sebagai kuk yang berat; dan bukan sebagai Instruksi Ilahi yang diberikan oleh Bapa yang penuh kasih kepada umat-Nya, untuk ditetapkan bagi dia dan hidup dalam kekudusan, tanpa mencampur atau mengadopsi kebiasaan pagan dan tradisi orang lain ... Di sisi lain, mereka yang ingin memahami lebih lanjut tentang Mesias, Anda tidak boleh menolak orang Israel karena Yahshua tidak dapat dipisahkan dari mereka atau Taurat.
Orang Kristen tidak melihat bahwa sepanjang sejarah, Gereja Katolik Roma, dari mana Protestanisme turun, mencoba untuk membubarkan hubungan yang iman miliki dalam Mesias dengan orang-orang terpilih dari Bapa, Israel dan dengan instruksi yang diberikan oleh YHWH Abadi di Sinai .... Yahshua tidak pernah datang untuk menghancurkan atau mengganti Taurat, dia datang untuk menafsirkannya dengan benar, untuk memenuhinya sampai akhir. Sayangnya, suaranya telah dibungkam dan digantikan oleh para teolog, seminari, institut Alkitab yang terus mengabadikan kebohongan para ayah antinomianistis gereja, seperti yang dilakukan orang Kristen.Kekristenan tidak diciptakan oleh "Yesus" 2.000 tahun yang lalu. Sejarah Kekristenan yang sejati dimulai dengan pertobatan Kaisar Romawi, Konstantin, dan Konsili Nicea pada tahun 325 ADKonsili Nicea pada tahun 325 AD adalah upaya Konstantinus untuk menyatukan berbagai aliran sesat ke gereja "Katolik" universal, yang dikendalikan oleh Konstantinus dan Roma. Roma mengklaim otoritas tertinggi karena pendiriannya oleh batu karang, Petrus (menurut keyakinan mereka). Patung Jupiter di Roma diganti namanya menjadi Santo Petrus dan dewa-dewa lain dari aliran sesat diubah menjadi para rasul dan orang suci lainnya. Di Konsili Nicea, nama-nama "Yesus" dan "Kristus" disatukan untuk pertama kalinya dalam frasa "Yesus Kristus" atau "Yesus Kristus", membuat keduanya.Nama "Yesus Kristus" tidak pernah muncul dalam bahasa Yunani atau Latin sebelum Konsili Nicea. Nicea, dengan anti-Yahudi teologisnya, meletakkan dasar anti-Semit yang diseret melalui waktu dan dapat dilihat hari ini di banyak gereja. Konsili Antiokhia (314 AD) melarang orang-orang percaya di dalam Mesias, untuk merayakan Paskah bersama orang Yahudi. LAS 3 CREENCIAS DE LOS CRISTIANOS ACERCA DE YAHSHUA QUE SON FALSAS.

1ª- He aquí algunos errores comunes que el Cristianismo comete: Yahshua (su Jesús) fue cristiano y no judío.
2ª- Asistió a la iglesia el domingo, no el Shabbat (Día de Reposo) a la Sinagoga.
3ª- ÉL empezó una nueva religión llamada Cristianismo y vino a acabar con la Ley (Torah) y a establecer un nuevo camino de salvación.
Todas estas afirmaciones son falsas, pero muy importantes para todo cristiano y son enseñadas en todas las iglesias. La mayoría de los cristianos tienen una religión sobre su “Jesús” pero no practican la religión de Yahshua, el Mashiaj/Mesías hebreo.
Yahshua nunca fue a la iglesia y nunca celebró navidad ni semana santa. El guardó el Shabbat Día de Reposo y no el sábado judío-greco-romano ya que el sábado NO EXISTIA
en ese tiempo en su calendario, las Fiestas de YHVH, comió comida Kosher, oraba en el Templo y en las sinagogas.
Podemos ver que Su fe y práctica fueron judías hasta la médula.
Pero la mayoría de los cristianos no pueden entender esto, y nunca se molestan en preguntarse por ellos mismos, ¿cómo veía Yahshua a la Torah? Tienen una pervertida opinión de la Torah, la ven como obras relacionadas con los fariseos y con hombres legalistas, como una esclavitud, como un yugo pesado; y no como la Instrucción Divina dada por un Padre amoroso a su pueblo, para que sea apartado para él y viva en santidad, sin mezclarse ni adoptar las costumbres y tradiciones paganas de los demás pueblos... Por otra parte, Aquellos que quieran entender más acerca del Mesías, nunca deben rechazar al pueblo israelita porque Yahshua no puede ser separado de ellos ni de la Torah.
Los cristianos no perciben que a lo largo de la historia, la iglesia católica Romana, de la que descendió el protestantismo, trató de disolver el vínculo que tenía la fe en el Mesías con el pueblo escogido del Padre, Israel y con las instrucciones dadas por el Eterno YHWH en el Sinaí.... Yahshua nunca vino a destruir o reemplazar la Torah, el vino a interpretarla apropiadamente, a cumplirla hasta lo último. Desafortunadamente, su voz ha sido callada y reemplazada por teólogos, seminarios, institutos bíblicos quienes continúan perpetuando las mentiras de los antinomianístas padres de la iglesia, lo mismo han hecho los cristianos. El Cristianismo no fue creado por “Jesús” hace 2.000 años. La verdadera historia del cristianismo empezó con la conversión del emperador Romano, Constantino, y del Concilio de Nicea en 325 D.C. El Concilio de Nicea en 325 D.C. fue el esfuerzo de Constantino para unificar los varios cultos en una iglesia universal “Católica”, controlada por Constantino y por Roma. Roma reclamaba la máxima autoridad debido a su establecimiento por la roca, Pedro (según la creencia de ellos). La estatua de Júpiter en Roma fue renombrada como San Pedro y los otros dioses de los cultos fueron convertidos en los apóstoles y otros santos. El primer edicto a favor del “Venerable Día del Sol” (Domingo) fue decretado en el Concilio de Nicea. Hasta ese tiempo, ambos, los seguidores del Mesías y los judíos observaban el Shabbat, de acuerdo con los mandamientos.
Fue en el Concilio de Nicea donde los nombres “Jesús” y “Cristo” se unieron por primera vez en la frase “Jesucristo” o Cristo Jesús”, haciendo de los dos uno. El nombre “Jesucristo” nunca apareció en griego ni en latín antes del Concilio de Nicea. Nicea, con su teológico anti-judaísmo, puso el fundamento antisemítico que se arrastró en el tiempo y se puede ver hoy en muchas iglesias. El Concilio de Antioquía (314 D.C) prohibió a los creyentes en el Mesías, celebrar la Pascua con los judíos. El Concilio de Laodicea, en el mismo siglo, les prohibió guardar el Shabbat. Four Indesputeable Reasons why it is the land of the Jewish people 1/ The Bible – the Word of the Lord As Christians, when we look for the answer to this question, there is only one place we should search. Not on CNN or the BBC ! The Bible is the only authority. If you follow the line of these verses, it suddenly becomes very clear who the disputed land belongs to ……… Psalm 24:1 The Earth is the Lords and all its fullness It’s the Lord’s land – He can do what he wants with it Psalm 115:16 The Heavens are the Lords, but the Earth He has given to the children of men Acts 17:26 And He has determined their pre-appointed times, and boundaries of their dwellings. What Land Are We Talking About ………. Genesis 15: 18 On the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying: To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the River Euphrates And now for the most binding and legtimate land deed ever written, because it was written by God Himself …………… Psalm 105:6-11 The covenant which He made with Abraham, and His oath to Isaac and He confirmed it to Jacob for a statute; to Israel as an everlasting covenant, saying “TO YOU , I will give the land of Canaan.” Jeremiah 30:3 For behold the days are coming says the Lord that I shall bring back from captivity my people Israel & Judah, says the Lord and I will cause them to return to the land I gave their fathers, and they shall possess it ! “Yes”, you may say, “but Israelbroke the coven-ant”. No they didn’t ! When God cut the coven-ant with Israel, He put Abraham to sleep. Israel disobeyed God, but didn’t break the covenant promises. Abraham didn’t promise God anything – he was asleep. (Gen 15:12) However God did scatter the Jews, but He also promised them that He would regather them at the end of the age. Deut 28:64 Then the Lord will l scatter you among all peoples, from one end of the earth to the other 2. The British Partition of Palestine In 1917 British politician and Bible believing Lord Balfour presented a paper to the British government stating the case for a Jewish homeland. He divided the land following the Jordan River from the Golan Height to theRed Sea and across to the Mediterranean coastline. All of the land west of theJordan was to be for the Jews. 3/ The San Remo Convention of 1923 The before mentioned Balfour Paritition was only a paper for the British government – it carried no international authority. However in 1923 the San Remo Convention held in San Remo, Italyand attended by 51 member states of the League of Nations, including Britain, USA, Canada & Europe ratified or confirmed the Balfour Agreement giving all of the land west of the Jordanto the Jewish people. 4/ International Law – since the 6 Day War of 1967, the UN, the media and many politicians constantly claim that Israel is illegally occupying the territory that it gained during the brief war. However international law clearly states that land gained in defence of external aggression is seen as the legitimate spoils of war. On the surface, the cause of the conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians, is over what is being called the ‘occupied territories’. They are not so much occupied as disputed. Both sides claim the same land as theirs. As we have seen in this paper, God has clearly given the disputed territories to the Jewish people. As Christians, we have no option, but to agree with the Lord Here is a list of some conveniently overlooked facts in the current Middle East situation. 1. Nationhood andJerusalemIsrael became a nation in 1312 B.C.E., two thousand years before the rise of Islam. 2. Arab refugees in Israel began identifying themselves as part of a Palestinian people in 1967, two decades after the establishment of the modern State of Israel. 3. Since the Jewish conquest in 1272 B.C.E. the Jews have had dominion over the land for 1000 years with a continuous presence in the land for the past 3,300 years. 4. The only Arab dominion since the conquest in 635 C.E. lasted no more than 22 years. 5. For over 3,300 years,Jerusalem has been the Jewish capital. Jerusalem has never been the capital of any Arab or Muslim entity. Even when the Jordanians occupied the city ofJerusalem, they never sought to make it their capital, and Arab leaders did not come to visit. 6.Jerusalem is mentioned over 700 times in the Jewish Scriptures. Jerusalem is not mentioned once in the Koran. King David founded the city of Jerusalem. Mohammed never came to Jerusalem. 7. The American poet & author Mark Twain visited the Holy Land in the 1860’s. In a poll he carried in Jerusalem and found 4000 Christians, 7000 Muslims and 40,000 Jews. (from his book – Innocents Abroad) 8. Arab and Jewish Refugees. In 1948 the Arab refugees were encouraged to leaveIsrael by Arab leaders promising to purge theland ofJews 68% of the Arabs left without ever seeing an Israeli soldier. 9. The number of Arab refugees who leftIsrael in 1948 is estimated to be around 630,000. The number of Jewish refugees from Arab lands is estimated to be the same. 10. Arab refugees were INTENTIONALLY not absorbed or integrated into the Arab lands to which they fled, despite the vast Arab territory.
